02/08/09 - What Sam did in July
 
These blogs are intended to show what sabbatical officers get up to on a day-to-day basis. So, here is a rundown of what I've been up to this month (July), just noting meetings and the like by looking back through my diary. I would like to know if anyone wants to see this again next month?
June 22nd – June 26th: handover week in the office shadowing Tom Page and starting training
June 27th – July 2nd: residential training – away from Canterbury with the whole team doing lots of learning and bonding!
July 3rd: first proper day in the office
July 7th: NUS Regional Reception – meeting lots of other sabbatical officers from the South East
July 8th: Sabb visit to the Nursery
July 9th: Student Activities Centre Staff away day, Hales Place Residents Association
July 10th: Fitness to Practice Panel rep in Medway for a student on a Social Work degree followed by meeting the staff from the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (UELT)
July 12th: Took part in the Race for Life 5K run for Cancer Research
July 13th: Planning meeting the Canterbury City Council for the Hales Place Neighbourhood Event taking place on October 7th
July 14th: Weekly sabb meeting then a catch-up with Student Committee Welfare officers about plans for the year
July 15th and 16th: couple of days off to go to my sister’s graduation
July 17th: at NUS Understanding and Supporting Liberation training in Leicester
July 20th: Venue planning meeting with new Venue manager – exciting things coming this year! Then Access to Learning Fund (ALF) Panel meeting in the afternoon
July 21st: Weekly sabb meeting then afternoon off
July 22nd: Liberation action planning meeting
July 23rd: Medway handover from Cai and met with counselling about how we can work together this year
July 24th: Met with the Canterbury Christ Church Union sabbatical team
July 27th: Campaign brainstorming afternoon with Helen Wood (Union President)
July 28th: Weekly sabb meeting
July 30th: Day at the Universities of Medway Students’ Association (UMSA) meeting staff, making plans and meeting the sabbatical team from Greenwich University Union of Students
July 31st: Sat in on ALF application at the Advice Centre
