Hey my name is Helen Wood but most people call me Wood and I am your Union President.
If you ever need to speak to me then come to the Mandela building and ask for me in the reception and ill pop down. It may even involve a cup of tea!
The 5 Sabbaticals are here to represent you so do not hesitate to say what you think and feel as we will make sure that you opinions will get across.
My job is to lead and direct Kent Union and defend, extend and promote the rights of Kent's 18,000 students as their chief representative to the University of Kent, the local  and regional community, and at a national level.

With the run up to welcome week Kent Union concentrate how to ensure that all students will have the most exhilarating time they can while they are here at Kent.
‘How do they do that I hear you ask...?’
Well that is down to your Sabbaticals. As I have told all the news students over the past week is that the sabbaticals are her to promote, represent and extend the rights of all the students to the University, local and national community.
‘So how do we actually do that and how would that affect me I hear you ask?’
Well this is where you come in, without your input the sabbaticals are unable to change, amend or even improve aspects about the university that will make your university experience the best it can be.
At times it can be really difficult to get you lot to say what you want to change and this has been found out through us coming to you through running in the elections. Moat students do not know who we are let alone who were their sabbaticals at the time.
Well to tackle this I am going to make sure that you guys know exactly who we are. We are updating the officer boards which are going to be placed in all places to do with Kent Union.  We are in the process of making a video that is going on the web site (watch this space!). There will be our photos on anything that we champion this year and this is something that I want to set in stone for the years ahead. I am going to arrange sabbatical road shows where we will set up camp outside the library or some other prominent place and talk to you guys as you are passing. We will also visit the other sites like Medway, ASAD, and Brussels to make sure that our members there know that we are their representatives.
It is important to remember that you as students voted us in to our position and without you doing that we are unable to represent you. This means that it is your right to use us to help you change things, adapt things or even create new things.
If there are any other ways that you think that we can make a change let us know... you know where we are so just come and see us as we are to REPRESENT YOU!!!!!!!
